How to buy Treasury bills

Open a CDS account on the CBK DhowCSD portal or app with your ID and KRA PIN, link a bank account, and place a non-competitive bid before 2 p.m. on Thursday. The minimum face value is KSh 50,000. You pay the discounted price on the following Monday and receive the face value, less 15% tax on the discount, at maturity.

CBK holds the auction every Thursday and publishes results the same afternoon or the next morning. Bills are issued on the following Monday.
