How fuel prices are set in Kenya
EPRA reviews and publishes maximum retail petrol, diesel and kerosene prices on the 14th or 15th of every month, based on the landed cost of imported fuel and applicable taxes. All fuel stations, from Shell and TotalEnergies to independent dealers, are required to sell at or below these ceiling prices.
This calculator uses the current Nairobi pump prices. Prices in other towns differ slightly due to transport costs, so treat this as a close estimate rather than an exact figure if you're filling up elsewhere.
As of the current EPRA pricing cycle (Aug 15 to Sep 14, 2026), Super Petrol retails at KSh 214.03 per litre in Nairobi, and Diesel at KSh 217.86 per litre.
How do I find my car's fuel consumption per 100km?
Most car manufacturers publish an official fuel consumption figure in litres per 100km. You can also calculate your own by filling up, resetting your trip odometer, driving until near empty, then dividing litres used by distance driven and multiplying by 100.
Does EPRA set the same fuel price everywhere in Kenya?
No, EPRA sets maximum retail prices that vary by town due to differing transport and distribution costs. Prices in Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu differ slightly from Nairobi.
