Using 15 m³ of water in Nairobi costs about KSh 2,053 including sewerage.
How the Nairobi water tariff works
NCWSC charges water on a tiered basis: the more you use, the higher the rate per cubic metre for the additional usage. Your bill isn't your total consumption multiplied by one flat rate; each tier is charged at its own rate, similar to how PAYE tax bands work.
Sewerage is then calculated as 75% of whatever your water charge comes to, not as a separate volume-based calculation. This tariff structure was approved by WASREB in February 2026 and covers the 2025/2026 to 2028/2029 financial years.

Frequently asked questions
How is sewerage charged on a Nairobi water bill?
Sewerage is billed at 75% of your water charge, not a separate volume-based rate of its own. So if your water charge comes to KSh 1,000, your sewerage charge is KSh 750, for a total of KSh 1,750.
Why did Nairobi water bills increase in 2026?
WASREB approved a new tariff structure for NCWSC covering the 2025/2026 to 2028/2029 financial years, raising rates by up to 50% in some usage bands to fund infrastructure upgrades and reduce water losses.
What if I don't have a water meter?
Domestic customers without a metered water source are billed a flat KSh 350 per month per dwelling unit, rather than the tiered volumetric rate.
